Paul Mas Wines
Along with one of our favorite rosé wines of this vintage we are offering two wines from the Paul Mas winery in Montagnac, near Pézenas. It lies in the rolling hills of the Hérault Valley and is located just a few miles from the Mediterranean coast, in a region within the Languedoc that is ideal for the production of premium wines. Vinus the Heron is featured on all the labels from Domaines Paul Mas. Legend has it this heron was often seen in the Paul Mas vineyards, preferring to feast on the ripe grapes rather than fish from the river. Smart bird!
Estandon Rosé 2013 -Crystal-clear pale candy pink color. A sweetly elegant nose, with aromas of raspberry, white and yellow peaches and citrus fruits. The palate is beautifully balanced between mouthwatering acidity, a round, supple texture and the fruity flavors detectable on the nose. $18.99
Paul Mas Marsanne 2012 – This grape deserves much more attention than it gets in the market place. This wine in particular shows scents of white flowers, pears and honeydew melon on the nose. A rich, fresh and mellow mouthfeel of pear and honey follow with a long, toasty finish. Its unctuous texture matches well with rich seafood like steamed lobster with drawn butter. Invite the neighbors and a few more friends at this price $11.99
Paul Mas Carignan 2012 – Intense deep purple color with ruby red tints. At first glance there are aromas of spices and blackberry along with cocoa tones eventually finishing with toasted oak notes. The body is rich and mellow with velvety tannins. Complex flavors on the middle palate with licorice flavors on the finish. A grilled, butterflied leg of lamb marinated with lots of garlic and rosemary would do nicely as companion. $11.99
